Top 5 Things to Do at Lake Blue Ridge

If you are looking for fun in the sun this summer, Blue Ridge GA won’t disappoint! One of our favorite places to hang out as a family when we’re here is Lake Blue Ridge. There’s so much to do whether you’ve got kids in tow or are looking to get away for a relaxing romantic weekend. Here are a few great ways to spend a summer day around Lake Blue Ridge.

  1. Hit the Beach

For a great way to spend a “beach day” in the mountains, head to Morganton Point Recreation Area. Sitting on the shores of Lake Blue Ridge – a 3,290-acre lake that boasts 60 miles of shoreline and ample outdoor activities such as secluded swimming, hiking trails, picnicking, boating and fishing. Pro Tip: While here, check out The Point. Located at the beach and boat ramp area within Morganton Point, this special place offers snacks, souvenirs, lakefront beach access and best of all, kayak and paddleboard rentals.

2. Go Fish!

The Blue Ridge area is one of the top five places to fish for trout in the Southeastern U.S.A, and Lake Blue Ridge is a scenic place to do it. Whether you’re fishing from land or a boat, you can expect to hook bluegill, largemouth bass, white bass, smallmouth bass, walleye, rainbow trout, and walleye. 3. Explore Lake Blue Ridge Dam

Nestled in the Chattahoochee National Forest of north Georgia, the Blue Ridge Dam was completed in 1930 to generate electricity and support recreational opportunities. Visit the day use area and you’ll find scenic overlooks, an information kiosk, a beautiful picnic area right on the water, as well as great trout fishing and access for canoe/kayak launching.

4. Float Your Boat- Or Jet Ski!

Boating on Lake Blue Ridge is an amazing way to spend the day. Imagine soaking up the sun, going for a swim, or trying your luck hooking fresh trout all from your own boat on the water. If you don’t have your own boat, you can rent one! Rent a boat, jet ski, or a slew of other fun watercraft from outfitters like Lake Blue Ridge Boat Rentals or the Lake Blue Ridge Marina. Whether you’re cruising slowly in a pontoon boat, whipping around on a ski boat, or floating along in a fishing boat, there’s something for everyone.

5. Dine Out with a View

Feeling hungry after all your fun at the lake? Head over to Marina’s Boat Dock Bar & Grill. Known lovingly as “A SUNNY SPOT FOR SHADY PEOPLE”, hit is little jewel set on the shores of Lake Blue Ridge at the Lake Blue Ride Marina. They have delicious food, a full bar including specialty cocktails, a great view of the lake, and live music Friday & Saturday nights and Sunday afternoon!
